According to recent observations, interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS may be becoming blue after experiencing an abrupt and swift brightening event while concealed behind the sun. Experts have observed a possible color shift in the comet three times now, but none of them have persisted. In early July, 3I/ATLAS, the third known interstellar object to reach our solar system, was observed hurtling toward the sun at over 130,000 mph (210,000 km/h). The comet was probably evicted from its home star system, out in the Milky Way’s frontier, more than 7 billion years ago, making it possibly the oldest of its kind ever observed. It has since traveled through interstellar space before arriving at our solar system.
