It consists of an\u00a0executive, led by the\u00a0Governor of Meghalaya, a\u00a0judiciary\u00a0and a\u00a0legislative\u00a0branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like other states in India, the head of state of Meghalaya is the\u00a0Governor, appointed by the\u00a0President of India\u00a0on the advice of the Union Government. His or her post is largely ceremonial. The\u00a0Chief Minister\u00a0is the head of government and is vested with most of the executive powers.\u00a0Shillong\u00a0is the capital of Meghalaya, and houses the\u00a0Vidhan Sabha\u00a0(Legislative Assembly) and the Secretariat.
